Alpha 0.2 is out!
# Public Alpha 2 is here
The second version of the public alpha releases on October 10. This update rebuilds the gunner's view, overhauls ballistics and shell physics, and adds a proper garage and main menu around the game.
## A new gunner's view
The reticle system has been rebuilt from scratch.
- **Full-screen sight.** The reticle now covers the screen properly. - **Shell range arc.** The crosshair displays the trajectory arc of your loaded shell, so you can judge drop before you fire. - **Rangefinder.** Vehicles now have a rangefinder, displayed in the crosshair and configurable. - **Binoculars.** A new binocular mode lets you scout from your vehicle, with its own dedicated overlay.
## Ballistics and shell physics
- **More consistent ballistics.** The whole system that resolves a shell hitting a vehicle has been reworked, and results are much more predictable. - **Spaced armor behaves correctly.** Spaced armor no longer generates spall too early, before the shell has reached the main armor. - **Tracks and gun barrels are treated as external parts.** Hitting them no longer triggers effects it shouldn't. - **New projectile physics.** Shell flight uses a new formula that takes weight, velocity and other parameters into account. - **Armor inspector changes.** Following these changes, the armor inspector heatmap has been upgraded. It is now slower, but far more accurate in its predictions. In coming versions it will also show post-penetration damage to modules.
## Clearer hit replays
- Animations are clearer and easier to follow. - The incoming shell is now shown. - Internal modules are displayed properly. - When a vehicle is destroyed by an ammo cook-off, the replay highlights the ammunition that detonated.
## Ammunition
- **Loadouts.** Choose your ammo loadout on the vehicle selection screen. - **Real shell counts.** Each vehicle carries a configurable number of shells, and its ammo racks change as you use them up. Not all vehicles are fully configured yet; the rest will follow in upcoming hotfixes. - **New action bar and ammo counter.** Your shell types and remaining rounds are shown in game. - **Switching shells takes a reload.** Changing ammo type now follows proper reload mechanics.
## Garage and main menu
- **New main menu and garage.** The interface has been rebuilt, with a garage camera, vehicle selection, a shop and a tech tree. - **Accounts.** You can now log in to the game. - **Test drive.** Any selected vehicle can be tried out straight from the main menu. Your vehicle is invincible during test drives. - **Loading screens.** Proper loading screens now appear between levels. - **Pause menu.** Opening the pause menu pauses your controls and releases the mouse.
Menus will be refined in coming versions; a fully polished design is in the works.
## Audio
- **Audio settings.** A new options section lets you tune the game's audio. - **Machine guns sound better.** MG fire has pitch variation, and distance falloff and overlapping shots are handled better.
## New map
A new map arrives with this update. It is far from finished, but it is much bigger than the previous map and a lot more open. It will keep evolving in coming versions.
## Known issues
- In cook-off replays, some shells that should disappear stay visible and clutter the view. A fix is planned.
Thank you for playing the alpha. Your feedback shapes what comes next, so keep it coming.
